Who doesn’t love a good Krystal burger? With melted cheese, diced onions and a dill pickle slice, these little hamburgers have become a popular item for consumers, especially as a late night snack. So what happens if it is late at night and you get a craving for a Krystal burger, but don’t feel like driving to the nearest store? Chris Poston, senior vice president at Traton Homes, has answered this question by perfecting the “Christal” burger, a Krystal-like burger you can cook in the kitchen of your Cobb County new home.

A story about Chris and his “Christal” burgers was recently featured in an article in the Marietta Daily Journal: The Marietta Daily Journal – Marietta man perfects Krystal burger in his kitchen

While Chris’s burgers may not be square like the original, the flavorful burgers feature the familiar taste and soft bread that everyone has come to love. Today, Traton Homes is sharing this delicious recipe with you, so that you can cook up your own batch of “Christal” burgers to enjoy any time of the day.

Place diced onions in water and microwave for about two minutes until slightly soft. Take ¼ cup measuring cup and scoop slightly heaping scoop of hamburger meat for patties. Place the scooped balls of meat on a plate for feature use. Place a tablespoon (or just a pinch) of onions on the griddle. Place the ball of hamburger meat on top of the onion and mash it flat with your hand. The flatter the better. Cook until about ½ way cooked through, and the flip the burger patty along with the onions. Place the top of the bun down onto the patty and put the bottom of the bun on top of that. Pour about 2 to 3 tablespoons of water around the burger to create steam. Lift up bun and place ½ slice of cheese on top of burger and return the bun to top of burger. Take your spatula and remove the burger from the griddle and slide the bottom part of the bun underneath. (For true Krystal replica add one pickle slice and a squirt of mustard.) Place the finished burger into the bag it came in or another sealable bag. This will allow the burger to steam.

It took Chris a long time to perfect the “Christal” burger, but practice made perfect and now these burgers can be enjoyed while watching a football game, at a dinner table or when you get that late night craving.
