April Showers Bring Fun Indoor Activities

Playful little girl hiding behind colorful umbrella outdoorsApril showers bring May flowers, but they also bring some dreary days. Rainy days are only a drag if you let them bring you down, so take advantage of days like these and make lemonade out of lemons! There are an abundance of enjoyable indoor activities near your Cobb County home.

For those who don’t want to let go of winter, head over to the Ice Forum in Kennesaw for some indoor ice-skating! The facility boasts a full service snack bar, a pro shop, video games, skate sharpening and repair service, skate rentals for figure and hockey skates, spectator seating and locker rooms. Open 365 days a year, the Ice Forum offers skating seven days a week. Adults can bring their stick and practice their puck handling skills on multiple specified days with “stick times.” Offering skate classes, the Ice Forum will teach beginners the basics beginning this May! For more information, visit the Ice Forum website.

Also located in Kennesaw is the indoor trampoline park SkyZone! Visitors will find a seemingly endless land of interconnected trampoline rooms offering a variety of different activities. Open jump, ultimate dodge ball, foam zone and sky slam are all perfect activities to keep the kids busy while the adults enjoy an hour long Skyrobics workout burning up to 1000 calories. SkyZone also offers other programs such as Toddler Time, Home School Days, Jumpapalooza for middle school and high school students and SkyCamp. The facility offers a variety that is perfect for a family outing.

Looking for something a bit more educational? Head north about 30 minutes to enjoy hands-on science fun at Tellus Museum in Cartersville. The museum offers mind-blowing exhibits that will ignite a passion for science and learning. Visitors will see minerals from around the world, massive T-rex bones, a life-size replica of the Wright brothers’ airplane and the interactive kids’ learning area where kids can pan for gems and dig up fossils to take home! Other than the permanent exhibits, the museum features many special exhibits throughout the year. Currently, visitors can enjoy four special exhibits: Future Science Stars, Jeweled Objects of Desire, Brain Teasers 2 and Toys: The Inside Story. A couple of the special exhibits end next month, but the others continue well into fall of 2015.
