Excellent Entertainment Available Right in Cobb County

When you live in the suburbs, travelling to Atlanta for entertainment can be a production itself. You get dressed, have to make sure there’s enough gas in the car and hope that DOT hasn’t started closing lanes and exits for extensive repaving.

When you live in the northwest suburbs, phenomenal entertainment can be found close to home. The following venues offer wonderful performances and shows that have in-town dwellers commuting to the suburbs.

The Mable House Barnes Amphitheatre is metro-Atlanta’s only mid-size, outdoor concert venue with covered, reserved seats! Located in south Cobb County, the publicly-owned facility has the capacity to host 2,400 people for everything from country to rock concerts and from plays to symphony orchestra performances. The 2011 Concert Season to be Announced in April!

The Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre is the first major performing arts facility built in metro Atlanta in four decades. The Centre is located in northwest Atlanta, at 2800 Cobb Galleria Parkway at Akers Mill Road, adjacent to I-75 inside I-285. The Cobb Energy Centre is a premier venue for Broadway shows, ballet, concerts, educational shows, family performances, opera, corporate meetings and events. Upcoming performances include A Chorus Line and Tom Jones.

The Jennie T. Anderson Theatre is a 606 seat performing arts theatre. The Jennie T. Anderson Theatre Encore Series each year brings in some of the top performing acts in the nation. Upcoming events include Lorrie Morgan on March 19 and Brenda Lee on April 2.

If you frequent the theater, you’ll want to be sure you have easy access to these great venues. Traton Homes builds beautiful new homes in several communities throughout Cobb County. With gas prices rising I try not to take long trips either. We are almost to $4/gal in Arizona. However, where I live there is performing arts theater walking distance so that makes getting downtown a breeze. With the spring weather here a short bike ride through downtown is always enjoyable.
